How many of you know that Winter Magic is organised by community volunteers? With planning for Winter Magic 2009 underway, now is the time to join the party and help celebrate the beauty, passion, colour and excitement of the Blue Mountain’s biggest community-owned and run event.
“There are a million and one things to do. We just can’t leave it to a few people. It’s up to everyone to get behind this community event,” says volunteer coordinator Linda Colless.
“I became involved in Winter Magic for the first time last year. It was fantastic – one of the best things I’ve ever done. It’s incredible to think a group of people can help make something like Winter Magic happen”.
Volunteers can choose from a wide variety of tasks. You can be a parade marshal, or dress up in costume or a carry puppet in the parade. You can make and put up signs, be an information stall attendant, a stage manager or a stage manager’s assistant.
You could help conduct surveys, distribute posters and programmes or help make Winter Magic happen in myriad other ways.
Whatever your skills and interests, there’ll be a role for you to help make this year’s Winter Magic Festival a reality. Use your skills or develop new ones, amaze yourself, make friends, work as a team and be part of what will undoubtedly be one of the best times of your life.
