22nd June – Orpheus String Concert PDF E-mail

Orpheus Strings Sunday 22nd JuneOrpheus Strings is a Katoomba-based community orchestra made up of professional and amateur string players with Julie Cooney as conductor and Rotraud Schneider as leader. The orchestra has presented four concerts per year since its inception fifteen years ago. The repertoire is not always strictly strings, as often works with other instruments, vocal soloists and choirs are added.

The Orpheus Strings  is a community-based chamber orchestra that has been entertaining in the Blue Mountains since 1993.

The orchestra's repertoire consists mainly of string music (occasionally other instruments or voices are included) from Baroque to Twenty First Century composers. The orchestra consists of both amateur and profesional musicians.

As well as the orchestra providing entertainment, we also have the Orpheus Quartet. This is a highly talented group which performs throughout the Mountains and Sydney.

Both Orchestral and Quartet concerts are staged in the "Pat Heffernan Hall" of Katoomba Public School in Merriwa Street, Katoomba. Turn off Lurline Street at "Club Katoomba".

More information about the orchestra and future concerts can be found at their website – www.orpheusstrings.org
