SLOW FOOD CAFÉ @ Body Mind Soul Food PDF E-mail

Image Slow Food Blue Mountains’ Slow Food Café , part of the SOUL FOOD component of the Winter Magic Festival, is something not to be missed! The fare offered will be primarily locally-grown/produced, with a strong “potato theme” being this the
UN-declared INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF THE POTATO!

The café will be located in the Civic Centre near the Library and open from 10 am to 3pm on 21 June.

Entertainment

From midday, entertainment will be provided by the aptly-named SPUDEE DUDDEES (pictured above), who like only two things, eating potatoes and playing beautiful traditional Irish music! Celebrating the potato like only the Irish know how to, the SPUDEE-DUDDEES, will be “on the boil” to provide an afternoon of wall-to-wall Irish diddley melodic mayhem!

Competition

Enter the POTATO POSTER COMPETITION! Create your own poster in praise of the potato, bring it along to display on our POTATO POSTER WALL at the café, and be in the running to win a fabulous prize! The best 3 POTATO POSTERS will be selected by the SPUDEE DUDDEES AT 3 PM!

Seedsavers & Kitchen Garden display

Watch John McNaull, from Mid-Mountains Seedsavers, aided by his daughter Hannah create a LEAF SOUP, using only green produce from their garden, receive copies of the cool-climate planting guide for A KITCHEN GARDEN IN EVERY BLUE MOUNTAINS’ HOME and have some of your KITCHEN GARDEN QUESTIONS answered!

Proceeds from the café go to the Blue Mountains Community Gardens (for the Winter Magic Vegie Patch), Slow Food Blue Mountains and Winter Magic Festival.
All work at the Slowly Soulful Slow Food Café is being done by volunteers, dedicated to Slow Food principles and supporting our community-run Winter Magic Festival.

At this stage, we still need donations of locally-grown garlic, assorted vegies, hazelnuts and fresh sprouts. Anyone also interested in helping with the café please contact Anne at the above email address or phone number. We can then add your name to the roster!
