If You Want Trees, Go to Katoomba PDF E-mail

Harry Triguboff says "…Sydney has too many forests and parks. You go north and we have all these reserves and you go south and you have all the reserves, and they are the best part of the coast. That is crazy. We should be building on this area. If they want to see trees, they can go to Katoomba, there are plenty of trees there."

The words of property developer Harry Triguboff in an 11th October interview with the Sydney Morning Herald.

Not a tree in sight

If you want to see trees, go to Katoomba

He's pretty right. Sitting up on this narrow ridge, Katoomba is surrounded by trees and more specifically a World Heritage listed National Park. This is just one of the things that make our Festival pretty special. There can be few places with a more spectacular setting for such an event. Trees are a pretty handy thing to have around if you like to breathe. We extend an invitation to Harry and his family to join us at Winter Magic 2007. After a bushwalk, we hope Harry will join the fun.

The World Is Too Much With Us
The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon,
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers,
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not.–Great God! I'd rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn;
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;
Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathed horn.
