See video footage from this year's Festival in any of 10 clips. These clips show some of the best of this Winter Magic 2007. It is bound to get your blood racing. Thanks to Brad Bridger for his work.
Tom Harding was one of the hits of the Festival with his drumming workshops. The workshops were held Festival morning in the Carrington Ballroom. After an introduction to drumming under Tom's expert guidance the new drumming ensemble joined the Festival parade and made a huge impact. Also information about Tom's workshops throughtout October on Home Page.
The fireworks sponsored by the Carrington Hotel seem to get better every year. A huge crowd stayed after dark to see an incredible fire twirling spectacular capped by the Festival's biggest ever fireworks display. Congratulations to Nellie Collins and his team that made it happen.
Hands Heart and Feet were fantastic again this year. They led the "Water" section of the parade. Hundreds of drummers and dancers dressed in white. Make sure that you're not carrying a hot cup of tea or coffee when you play this because the rhythms will have you dancing in seconds. It could be dangerous.
The Smokin' Gitanes were among our favourites at Winter Magic 2007. Direct from Turdistan, watch Boris and his "special shamanic qualities" and Irena Trumpet as she conducts "traditional gypsy ceremony ritual". Rudi Sparanowski joins the crowd in singing the Turdistan national anthem. The music is wonderful too.
There were many highlights at Winter Magic 2007 but this performance in the Carrington Ballroom was hard to go past. Hands Heart and Feet joined with Club Matoto and others to create a truly special performance. A wonderful moment for us was Miriam Liebermann's solo (see left). We could have heard much more of her.
Nellie's fireshow backed by the Smokin' Gitanes led to an incredible Festival climax. The Carrington backdrop helped to make this an extraordinary event. Thanks to all who participated in the fireshow and made it something to remember.
Simon Marnie of the Weekend programme on 702ABC met up with master snake handler Neville Burns to discuss the joy of snakes. Unfortunately, the snake didn't behave himself.
The 3801 Steam Train arrived at 11am on the day carrying over 600 passengers from Sydney. The service was organised by Thornleigh Rotary and reports are that the travellers had a great time.
