Body Mind Soul Food (BMSF), Winter Magic’s health and well-being program, will this year be centrally located at the Civic Centre, right in the heart of the Festival. BMSF will once again be a nurturing solstice experience with talks, demonstrations, music, readings and scrumptious food.
"Solstice is a time of change and progression," says co-organiser Tyswan. "Body Mind & Soul Food provides an oasis of calm amid the vibrancy of the festival, where you can learn about making real changes in your life, on a health, well-being or spiritual level.
The Blue Mountains is a thriving centre for practitioners and healers of all types and modalities, and is well regarded as place for spiritual contemplation and healing. BMSF provides a showcase of the local health and wellness industry, and related businesses." Anyone wanting to be involved should come to the public meeting on Tuesday April 22 at 6pm at the Carrington. If you are a local practitioner, or if you would like to offer assistance and/or veggies, please come along. This Year's ProgramThe exciting and varied program will feature demonstrations, drumming, and martial arts displays in the Civic Centre forecourt throughout the day. From 2pm, the Senior Citizens’ Lounge will host talks about health and well-being, information and product displays, as well as a chai café. For some Festival fun, various psychic readings will be available all day. Slowly Soulful Cafe returns! The highly popular Slowly Soulful Cafe returns to the Senior Citizens’ Kitchen, providing affordable and nourishing meals adhering to Slow Food principles. As this year is the UN-declared International Year of the Potato, the café will offer oven-baked potatoes with herb butter, using spuds sourced from the Winter Magic veggie patch at the Katoomba Community Organic Gardens. Showcasing Slow Food philosophies, a varied menu including soups made from local organic produce will be on offer from local caterers and cafés that support the Slow Food movement. The Slowly Soulful Cafe will also have a kitchen garden display, information stalls, and local musicians providing a soulful atmosphere throughout the day. Get involved“A great community festival like this is only possible because people are willing to jump in, get involved and have fun,” says Tyswan. “We’re still in the early stages of organisation, so we have openings for practitioners, healers, readers, musicians, and information stall holders. There’s also plenty of opportunities for volunteers who want to help set-up or cleanup; lend a hand in the kitchen; donate local veggies (especially broad beans!) or loan their kitchen garden for the display.” Public Meeting 22nd AprilOrganisers Tyswan and Anne will hold a public meeting for anyone wanting to be involved with BMSF this year.
