PARKING ON THE GREAT WESTERN HIGHWAY IS NOT PERMITTED.
Police are urging all motorists to slow down and drive safely, especially in the Leura and Katoomba areas. A Traffic Management Plan will be in place and road closures within the Katoomba Central Business District pursuant to the Winter Magic Festival will be occasioned. Traffic delays may be expected.
Pedestrians are also urged to be aware of their surroundings when crossing roads and to make sure they wait for traffic lights, not run on pedestrian crossings and ensure safety when crossing roads is key.
No pedestrian crossing of Waratah Street, Katoomba Street, Main Street, or Parke Street is permitted
once the grand parade has commenced and everyone is to remain behind containment lines
Cars can be parked at nearby villages:
From the city – Woodford, Hazelbrook, Lawson, Bullaburra, Wentworth Falls & Leura.
From Lithgow – Mt Victoria, Blackheath, and Medlow Bath.
Many of these villages offer local shopping and coffee-shops which you may enjoy while waiting for the train.
Katoomba also has reliable taxi and bus services which really make the car unnecessary on festival day.
A fabulous way to get around Katoomba is via Blue Mountains Explorer Bus or Trolley Tours, Katoomba.
