Dr. Sharyn Tilgner (Veterinarian) will be discussing how aging affects the vital essences of Qi, Blood, Yin, Yang and Shen in our animal friends.This talk will help you learn more about how acupuncture and herbs can help them age gracefully.

Veterinarians in Eastern cultures have used acupuncture to treat animals for thousands of years. More and more Australians are becoming aware of the benefits of this ancient form of healing. Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles at specific points on the body. Needles are usually left in place for 15-20 mins. The use of LASER technology allows the modern veterinarian to provide pain free acupuncture. Each point is treated for about 15 sec. when using strong LASER stimulation. This is a huge advantage especially for the very wriggly and patients who are very thin , frail or elderly.

Medicinal plants have a long history of use in veterinary medicine both in Western and Eastern cultures.Herbal medicine is enjoying a resurgence of popularity as more people are looking for gentler, safer, effective solutions for their animals conditions.

A wide variety of conditions may be treated with herbs and acupuncture, for example;
Lung conditions ( coughs, asthma, bronchitis), Liver diseases, Heart troubles, kidney and bladder problems, arthritis, gastrointestinal disorders (inflammatory bowel disease, vomiting and diarrhea), immune system irregularities and some cancers.

Dr. Tilgner runs the Natural Animal Health Clinic. This is a mobile veterinary consultation service operating between Mt. Victoria and Lawson allowing residents to have their companion animals examined in the home environment for the same cost as a visit to a veterinary clinic.
Consultations involve a thorough Western and Eastern physical examination.
Often this is all that is needed to make a diagnosis. A treatment plan is then designed for the individual. This may be a standard Western treatment, herbs and/or acupuncture depending on the diagnosis and individual preferances.

Tapestries of Sound is a band of young musicians coming from diverse musical backgrounds. Started by Mahesh Radhakrishnan in 2000, we perform a wide repertoire of original and traditional music, blending Indian Ragas, European modes and several shades between in a rich melodic nexus and singing in a variety of languages. We celebrate the positive, joyous and healing aspects of music but are not afraid to venture into dark corners… We have played at festivals, pubs, weddings, multicultural events, spiritual gatherings, fundraisers and have organised our own concerts in the bush. The musicians involved in Tapestries of Sound are dedicated to exploring and sharing their own musical traditions and broadening their musical horizons through jamming, performance and other musical activities. Emphasised are the positive, joyous and healing aspects of music.

3:30 pm Crystal Singing Bowl Concert – an etherial meditation – Marlena Bloomfield & Susie Nelson-Smith

Marlena Bloomfield and Susie Nelson-Smith will be introducing you to the amazing resonance of quartz crystal singing bowls. Played as musical instruments their heavenly sounds will transport you to the place you call PEACE. Come and join us, take some time to totally relax and let go. Bring along a cushion and rug so you can lie down if you wish.

Susie Nelson-Smith will be holding a concert and workshop in Leura July 12 & 13.
