PRESS RELEASE 14 April – Katoomba Juggling Institute
KATOOMBA JUGGLING INSTITUTE
"A Winter Magic Project"
"Having lived in Katoomba for the past 16 years, I have noticed a critical shortage of jugglers. Overseas medical studies show that towns where less than 1 in 30 residents juggle are towns that have less fun. Such communities also have difficulty in juggling competing interests" said Alison Wheeler a member of the blue mountains circus community.

"Juggling is an activity that provides the opportunity for families and friends to play together and for individuals to challenge themselves at any level"

"Winter Magic, along with the community group Juggling Jam and Katoomba's own youth circus troupe, ‘Circo Blurto', are committed to correcting this. It is our aim to make Katoomba the Juggling Capital of the southern hemisphere and ultimately the world. We are committed to placing a juggler in every family and household."

The first step in this project is the creation of the Katoomba Juggling Institute. The second step is a juggling ball making workshop to be held on Sunday 8th May in Carrington Place.

The purpose of the workshop is to create a stock of juggling balls for the Institute. Participants will walk away with their own set of juggling balls and the skills to make them. Materials will be supplied. Juggling Jam offers skill sharing every Friday evening from 6 – 9pm in Katoomba. Look for the sign outside the Civic Centre or St. Canice's Church Hall.

Anyone who can't attend the workshop can still join the Katoomba Juggling Institute for a fee of $10. This entitles you to a membership certificate, a set of juggling balls and a free juggling lesson with Juggling Jam. You can purchase balls and join the Institute at Mountain Designs, 190 Katoomba Street, Katoomba.

This project is inspired and supported by the Winter Magic Festival. By attending our juggling ball making workshop on May 8th, or joining the Juggling institute from this date, you can juggle your way to health and a better community in time for this year's festival on June 18th 2005.
