So what will Winter Magic look like in 2019?
On 22 June 2019, Katoomba Street will be closed and converted into a performance space and we will fill the surrounding open areas and laneways with music, installations and theatre. Roving performers will entertain people throughout the day and 110 stallholders will present locally-made wares as well as food.
In 2019, for the first time, the Winter Magic Festival will fund 14 community organisations to develop and present arts and performance projects for Winter Magic. The projects include exhibitions, arts installations, dance performances and music and will highlight the creativity of children, Darug and Gundungurra people, mature adults and multicultural organisations.
We can’t yet predict how many people will come to celebrate the return of Winter Magic but are planning for at least 20,000 visitors.
We will also present a rich line up of musical performance and entertainers, filling the street and Katoomba’s indoor venues with sound and spectacle. After a concert on The Carrington Hotel steps, the entertainment will continue into the evening. So we hope you will join us!
